All Roads lead to Ridgeway
One of the wonderful things about living in Ridgeway is the beauty of the surrounding countryside. There are numerous ways to reach Ridgeway, all of which will take you through some very beautiful vistas.
As most visitors to Ridgeway hail from the GTA, there are 3 exits along the QEW that lead to the South Coast. The first is the Sodom Road exit, which takes you through some bucolic landscapes. Follow the QEW to exit #16 (Sodom Rd.) and head south through the Village of Stevensville. Along the way you’ll pass by Safari Niagara with its cornucopia of exotic animals. It’s a great place to take the grandkids. It’s about 13 km to Garrison Rd. (Hwy 3) where you’ll turn left and drive to Ridge Rd. N. Turn right onto Ridge Rd. N, which takes you right into downtown Ridgeway.
Our own personal favourite is to take the QEW to Bowen Road (Exit 7), drive west for just under 2 km and then turn left onto Ridge Rd. North, which also leads directly to downtown Ridgeway. We find this route the most picturesque, as it meanders through beautiful countryside with historic homes. There’s even the odd traffic jam, caused by broods of ducks crossing the road.
Last, but not least, is Thompson Rd. (Exit 2). Exit south and go to Garrison Rd. (You’ll note the shopping centre with a Walmart on your right). Turn right and drive approximately 11 km west to Ridge Rd. North, where you’ll make a left turn into downtown Ridgeway. This route also has its charms, not the least of which is the shopping opportunities, as well as the new YMCA and the soon to be built Fort Erie Centre for the Arts.
